Hi There!
My name is Tabitha Lily, and I am an independent singer-songwriter and guitarist based in Hertfordshire, England. This blog will mostly follow and track my journey and growth as a new artist, with all of the ups and downs that come with that. This will be a fully authentic insight into my progress, thoughts, achievements and struggles. Highlighting key topics of mine such as mental health awareness, music, and art. Life isn’t perfect so prepare for a very authentic, emotional, and messy journey ahead!
My Journey Before This Blog…
Growing up surrounded by my mum and dad’s music taste of Fleetwood Mac, Dire Straits, Jimi Hendrix, Razorlight, Red Hot Chili Peppers and many more, it’s unsurprising that my love of music would grow from then, as time went on.
As a 5-11 year old, I had many singing-solo performances in primary school plays / nativities, and also learnt how to play piano and violin. I received a graded certificate for violin but shortly after, felt this wasn’t for me. As high-school came around, I went on to play acoustic guitar and singing self-taught.
I started forming my own cover takes on pre-existing songs for fun when I was 13, which developed into myself starting to write my own original songs aged 15.
I performed my first couple of gigs in 2019 aged 15, which was a thrilling experience that I always held close to my heart and wanted to re-live over and over again.
I achieved a grade B, for my GCSE in my music course in 2020 (although never really understood the theory parts) and carried on playing for fun.
It was only fairly recently in October of 2022 after the previously chaotic years before, that I decided to start documenting my journey publicly on all platforms and thinking.. ‘‘maybe I really could give this a try?’’ As self doubt played a massive role in holding me back from trying sooner, especially imposter syndrome. But the motivation of doing what I love and spreading my messages across through music is what drove me to drop everything and pursue this full-time.
The passion of wanting to connect with people on an emotional level, allowing others to resonate and feel vulnerable with very real and raw topics in today’s society through my lyrics, and the possibility of even helping others through music was a very vivid goal of mine, and through this I found hope and determination.
